The hunt...

Actual Conversation:
Me: Babe, do you like this one? It's cute and kinda modern!
Aaron: Heck no. I think its creepy. Our kid is gonna be one of those kids that goes around writing numbers on everything!
Me: *Exasperated sigh*
Back to square one....

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Our baby is officially a girl. Apparently boy parts can fall off- or something. The good news is that our daughter has an unusually long and thick umbilical cord meaning that she is getting plenty of nutrients. The bad news is that this cord was mistaken for boy parts in at least 3 ultrasounds! So now we will be shifting our name hunt, room decorating and mental preparations to accomodate our little girl! Just thought you should all know!

Our basement flooded!!!

There is a scientific law known throughout the universe as "Boone's Unavoidable Law of Fortune and Disaster". Basically it states that for every wonderful thing that happens to us, something equally devastating will follow. Case in point- we went on a perfect vacation last week! It was much needed and absolutely wonderful. But thanks to BULFD I left my phone on the plane and it was found by a good samaritan that I'm sure was planning on returning it...until he decided to rack up 654 minutes of "Single" (aka porn) hotlines and other equally disturbing calls instead. My phone will spend the rest of its days in the hands of a pervert now, but it was expected. Universal laws are rarely wrong and seldom escaped...
In my niave hopefullness, I thought this would be an end of the necessary misfortune but nooooo...We returned home Saturday evening tan and happy thinking all was well. Sunday however, I walked down the stairs to our basement, only to have my foot (and my heart) sink into a few inches of water...That's right. BULFD had struck again! Our main sewer drain is in a storage room in our basement and at some point in the day began to reject everything we sent its direction. Every bit of water (showers, toilets, sinks etc) that we had ran had emptied directly into our basement!

The next few hours were filled with ripping up our carpet, creating makeshift dams, moping up water and, my personal favorite- shotvac-ing up sewage!!! I pulled the pregnancy card part way through this adventure and figured raw sewage exposure might not be good for a developing fetus so I became self-proclaimed cheerleader/photographer! As Aaron vaccumed up the disaster (which I know is really gross) I stood behind him taking pictures. Suddenly, my leg felt wet and I looked down to realize the filter was missing from the back of the vacuum and the contents were getting shot out the back...all over our shelves of food storage...and my leg!!! Sick!!! Thank goodness we have both been blessed with the ability to laugh at disaster!
Six hours later, with the aid of a neighbor, a plumbing snake and a wonderfully patient husband, the problem was resolved!!
I will spare you the details of what was found, but lets just say there will soon be a sign for guests in the bathroom that says, "If it is not toilet paper- you may put it in the trash can, keep it in your pocket or eat it, but please...DON'T FLUSH IT!!!!"

Bahamas and 30 weeks down!

The Bahamas were everything we hoped for and more! Our cruise was 5 days and stopped in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay.

We got in trouble for taking this picture and I had to pretend I erased it! :)
In Freeport we rented scooters and rode out to Dead Man's Reef to snorkel! What we didn't know ahead of time was that it would be a 75mi trip! Ha!

We swam with sharks!!!

Our baby is so well traveled all ready!
I have decided this is the best way to spend pregnancy...
Our boat...

After our cruise we rented a car and drove down to Key West! We found a dead alligator on the side of the road! This was a definite highlight!
What a great vacation! We have 10 weeks left in our life without children. That's a crazy thought! Next adventure?? Finishing our remodel!

A sneak peak at our little project...

The pictures that I am in are of the first day only...then Aaron told me the dust was too thick and if our kid can't run track in highschool because he has asthma he will blame it on me breathing in dust with a child in my womb! The rest of the project has been Aaron's muscles and my bossy recommendations...

The first blood of the project!!! But not the last...

The good news is that we have everything reframed now! The next step is to finish lighting...then drywall and tile! Wahoo!!
The biggest challenge?? For me- Not changing my mind a hundred times about colors and style!! For Aaron- probably putting up with me. I am going to blame it on pregnancy...

Going back to my To Do list from almost a month ago...
Our To Do list:
Buy a crib- DONE! WE GOT THE DELTA SOHO! I LOVE IT! STILL HAVEN'T SET IT UP THOUGH...
Remodel our bathroom!!- IN THE PROCESS...PICS TO FOLLOW...
Sell the growing number of appliances that have accumulated in our garage- UMMM...I THREATENED AARON'S LIFE IF THEY AREN'T GONE SOON, DOES THAT COUNT?
Finish (start) a nursery-DUE TO A SUDDEN TURN OF EVENTS, WE MAY HAVE TO ALTER THIS PLAN...LOOKS LIKE OUR LITTLE BOY MIGHT BE A GIRL...
Fix our sprinklers- THANK YOU THUNDERSTORMS, THIS ONE HAS TAKEN A BACK BURNER...
Get a few more fun trips in before we need to become responsible parents- BOOKED A CRUISE!! WE LEAVE SUNDAY NIGHT FOR THE BAHAMAS!
Re-do our kitchen floor, thanks to our recent dishwasher mishap!- I HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH IT AND DON'T FEEL AS GUILTY WHEN IT ISN'T CLEAN NOW THAT IT IS A WRECK...MAYBE WE SHOULD LEAVE IT...
I know what you are all thinking....this is the most attractive pregnant picture you have ever been exposed to, right?!? I thought so...7 months and 3 days down, less than 12 weeks to go! See! It looks huge from this angle, huh?! Please note that my belly button is trying so hard to stick out. I think it has a good chance in the next month or two...

Here's a semi-normal shot. I am 16 lbs heavier and have a 2 1/2 lb baby in me...hhmmm..
